Starmer and Macron to travel with Zelenskyy to Washington next week

World leaders could travel to Washington as early as next week to present a “united front” on a peace plan to President Donald Trump, according to reports.

The proposal includes an initial ceasefire with a ban on air and sea bombings by both sides. If successful, it could extend to a ground ceasefire, though sources say enforcing it would be more challenging.

French President Emmanuel Macron initially suggested a one-month ceasefire in the air and at sea, but the proposal is now expected to be indefinite.

Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer hopes to secure U.S. security guarantees that would allow the UK, France, and other willing nations to deploy peacekeeping troops in Ukraine without fear of another Russian attack. Starmer warned this week that sending British troops without U.S. support would be “absolute folly.”

CNN reports that senior officials in Trump’s administration have been in contact with Volodymyr Zelenskyy to restart talks following their Feb. 28 confrontation at the White House.
