According to Bloomberg, Russian President Putin – who is said to have built a “friendship” with Donald Trump – has reportedly agreed to mediate discussions between the Trump administration and Iran regarding the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. This information comes from sources who wish to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the issue.
In a phone call in February, Trump is said to have expressed this interest directly to Putin, while senior officials from his administration discussed the matter with their Russian counterparts during talks in Saudi Arabia, where a potential peace plan for Ukraine was discussed between the US and Russia.
So far, no comment has been made by White House officials, and neither Russia nor Iran have publicly confirmed or denied the request.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Bloomberg that “Russia believes that the United States and Iran should resolve all problems through negotiations” and that Moscow “is ready to do everything in its power to achieve this.”
Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, stated during a televised press conference on Monday in Tehran that it was “natural” for countries to offer assistance, reports the Express US.
He added: “Given the significance of these matters, many parties may show goodwill and readiness to help with various problems.
“From this perspective, it’s natural that countries will present an offer of help if it’s needed.”
President Trump has recently intensified his administration’s approach toward Iran, aiming to prevent the nation from developing nuclear weapons and curbing its regional influence. On February 4, 2025, he signed a National Security Presidential Memorandum reinstating the “maximum pressure” campaign, which includes stringent sanctions targeting Iran’s economy and nuclear program.
